Food blog

I stumbled on to a new food blog yesterday while searching for a dish that Jason could take to a work-breakfast-potluck he had Thursday . I decided to make the eggnog french toast~smells Christmas-y! The blog has some fun recipes, my next try will be the compost toffee for dessert Friday night, when we have company. Cute entry & looks delish~here is the link...

The best gifts we didn't purchase

As I wrap & label Christmas gifts this week something struck me.When I wrote the names of my children, and then wrote, "mommy & daddy", on each gift tag, the significance of those words hit me. I know that the Lord has only entrusted Jason & me with these 4 lovelies, even if I forget for a moment or two on occasion. But, as I wrote those names that our 4 off-spring call us, "mommy, mom, daddy, dad" (depending on the kid:) I was reminded how darn important those titles are! We are the main example of Christ that they see. Each word we say, or do not say. Each action we take or do not take. Every discipline that is giving, each ear that is lent, no matter how long or tangent-y the story:). It is all important in shaping them, their character and who they will become in Christ.
Seriously not qualified, but majorly honored He entrusted us~and we will continue to lean on Him for raising these 4 jewels o' ours (or should I say "His":).

Grand Soccer Finale

Whew...one more soccer season down, a bunch to go! The 3 kids had their final games of the season Saturday, followed by 3 parties~yes, lots of pizza & sugar consumed. Meran & Jameson will go on to play in All-star games in a few weeks.

Great job team: Fire, Gladiators & Ninjas!!!
And thanks to the best coach ever!!!;)

Control

I read this this morning, in my devotional..Jesus Lives by Sarah Young. It is SO written for me! Had to share it. If you have ever wrestled with anything (that'd be everyone) it will hit home.

Control
I am your Intimate Friend, but I am also Unfathomable and Mysterious; Infinitely great and Glorious! I want you to contemplate Me in My glory so you can worship Me exuberantly. Sometimes, though, you struggle with My unsearchable decisions and untraceable ways-seeking to control Me rather than abandoning yourself to Me in worship. You need to recognize "control" for what it is:an idol. I created you in My image and endowed you with free will. I gave you amazing linguistic abilities so you could communicate richly with Me. Instead of using these gifts in manipulative ways-trying to control Me-devote them to worshipping Me in spirit and truth.

I encourage you to pray freely: Ask and it will be given to you. Nonetheless, when you bring Me your petitions, you need to keep in mind the depth of My wisdom and knowledge. This will protect you from being presumptuous or manipulative. I never fail to hear your prayers and answer them wisely, but I do not always grant your petitions-no matter how heartfelt they may be and how utterly right they may seem. If it becomes clear that My will differs from what you have requested, the best response is to say simply, "Yes Jesus." This will draw you closer to Me, even in the midst of your disappointment. Though My ways-My methods, My paths-may be mysterious from your perspective, I assure you they are good.

Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unfathomable are His judgments! And how untraceable are His ways!

So Thankful

When I look back on the past 12 months, I can hardly believe that is all it has been. This year has brought events that are life changing and character shaping. So much, in fact, that I am still processing it all.

It was our year to spend Thanksgiving with my family, but since my parents' kitchen is being given a makeover, I got to host Thanksgiving this year! My mom still did most of the cooking, so we referred to this as the "tutorial year";). Along with my parents, we celebrated with my 2 aunts, Dustin, Lauren & their 2 girls. We are so thankful for all God has done for us! He is good...all the time! We give thanks...

for all of God's grace, mercy and constant, undeserved blessings!

Family Day

Rock Academy hosted a Family Day last Friday. Jason had to work, so Bellen & I bounced back and forth between Jameson & Meran's class. In Jameson class, we made butter and in Meran's we made recipe books, followed by a special Thanksgiving chapel. After their festivities, we headed to Sutton's class to celebrate Thanksgiving with an "all preschool" feast!
A great way to kick off the Thanksgiving week-long break!

October 31st...Day o' Activities

The Onlookers

5th Grade Girls

Green Eggs & Ham 1st Graders

On Wednesday, Meran & Jameson had the jog-a-thon (Dr.Seuss themed) for the Rock Academy. Sutton had a "Hallelujah" party at preschool and we had a little dinner/trick-or-treating gathering with a few friends. The kids were pumped, the sugar was flowing...it was a fun night. Not to mention our kids' first time to trick or treat on Halloween!

The First Cut for the Last One...

Bellen has been sporting the baby-mullet for some time now. But, while the top of her hair is stick straight, the back of her hair has sweet, soft curls. None of my other kids had these curls, so I am, in a way, fascinated with them. They are the main reason I have been putting off her first cut. Then came this week, I decided that Tuesday would be the day. To our list of errands to walk to, I added a stop at Pigtails & Crewcuts, the local children's salon. It's cute and fun and bright...what child wouldn't want their haircut in a taxi or airplane or police car, while eating a cup of animal crackers and watching Toy Story III? She waited her turn, coloring on the paper tablecloth at the child's table, watching skeptically, as the little boy in the police car cried the whole time his hair was being cut. Her turn came and she chose the red airplane. She didn't cry or fuss. The stylist took just the right amount off the ends. Bellen was happy. Mommy was happy. It was good. :)
ready to go!
